I am so excited to welcome you to my newest baby, Aly in Motherland!

I have been talking about creating a real blog for months but there never seemed to be a right time. What was I going to talk about? Would anyone really care about my opinion on white jeans after Labour Day or how to train for a marathon? The long and the short of it is probably not but I'm okay with that.

There is never a right time to start something new but after having my first baby in late April, I decided to bite the bullet and give this whole blogging thing a real effort. I've had a Tumblr blog in the past but this is my first time using Blogger and really focusing on creating a quality blog.

Interestingly enough, I've decided to create a blog on a topic that I know almost nothing about - being a mom. My journey as a mom is only just beginning and in six short weeks I've already realized that there is so much more about being a mom than just using the "right" diaper cream or deciphering between the hungry and the tired cries (WTF is the difference?). We can learn so much from each other when it comes to parenting and I will be the first to tell you that I have almost no answers, just experiences.

My goal with Aly in Motherland is to create a space where I can share real life experiences on parenting but also where I can share and discuss all the other things that I love including food, fashion and fitness. Being a mom is the best thing that has ever happened to me but it's not the only thing that has ever happened to me.

As a new mom I find that so many mommy blogs focus only on their kids and while there is no doubt that Henry is going to make many appearances on this page, I also want to focus on the other parts of "me". No one likes a one-sided conversation and my hope is that this space has a little something for both the mom and the non-mom readers.

Necessary shot of Baby Henry!

I hope to post content at least a few times a week so please do check back often.

I can't wait to share with you all!
